TWENTY twenty-three featured the introduction of our first monthly, live, in-person shows at Little Boxes Theater, commencing in July with Cabinet of Curiousities. The year has seen us play host to a plethora of incredible performance artists… from acrobats to ecdysiasts, drag kings and queens to sideshow daredevils and at least one live theremin rendition of “happy birthday,” we’ve had the pleasure of hosting some of the best variety show artists of the Bay and beyond.
2023
TWENTY twenty-two was an experimental, challenging and highly rewarding year for the Menagerie. We debuted Death at the Circus to a sold out house of wonderfully enthusiastic attendees only to have to postpone our second weekend due to an unfortunate case of the plague. In spite of this, we returned again to an overwhelming response, celebrated our second anniversary as a troupe and then finished out the year with a critical hit New Year’s Eve event

TWENTY twenty-one was a year of virtual shows. It was our first real year as a production and involved a lot of innovation and experimentation in delivering quality variety shows through online streaming during the middle of a pandemic. It was a time of uncertainty; and yet, we witnessed artists shine in the adversity of isolation and produce art in spite of obstacles.
2020
TWENTY twenty’s COVID-19 pandemic is directly to blame for our first variety show. In a time of isolation andsocial distancing, artists were left venue-less and audience-less, unable to share their diverse talents with the world. From this, Smoke & Mirrors Menagerie was born: a virtual variety show on Halloween of 2020, carefully crafted to raise spirits in a dark time.
